Pharmaceutical dust collection challenges

Pharmaceutical production is subject to strict hygiene and contamination-control requirements. Fine powders and active ingredients must be handled carefully to protect employees, maintain product quality and support clean production environments.

Simatek’s pharmaceutical dust collector systems provide efficient emission control for processes with demanding hygiene requirements. Filters with direct product contact surfaces can be designed to meet GMP and EHEDG guidelines and used across a wide range of protection zones.

The systems are available with or without Cleaning in Place (CIP). CIP solutions enable internal and external cleaning of the filter bags, helping to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and support short turnaround times between production cycles.

Pharmaceutical dust collector requirements

The handling of fine pharmaceutical powders places specific demands on dust collection equipment, including:

  • Implementation according to ATEX EN 14491 and VDI 3673 directives and the EHEDG, GMP and 3A hygiene standards
  • Pressure shock resistance: from 0.64 to 2 bar
  • Use of food-safe material for parts that come in contact with the product
  • Reduction of harmful dust to correspond to the values ​​of the TA air
  • Efficient tool-free filter changes in the pure gas and raw gas area
  • Manual and automatic setting of cleansing cycles
